News, Video

Helloooooo!

I took a little time off from blog town, which my next post will describe a little more closely. But now we're back, with the latest in Grand Lake news.

A week or so ago we played a couple shows, and capped off a busy week with an epic recording session - 8pm to 5am with our friend Jeff. We're working on our debut full-length, tentatively titled "Boontling". The idea with this one is live and raw, which is probably a complete 180 from our last two studio releases. We'll keep you posted. We hope to have some new tracks for you by the end of the year.

While I was away, the Deli SF posted this little review of the below mentioned show. With the following video of a newer song "Louise":

Coming up we're doing a bit of travelling - I'll post the official August tour schedule sometime soon. Cheers!

Crazy People, Hecklers

We played a set at the Stork Club last night (always a great idea right?), and it was pretty alright, except that John got bounced of course because he's only old enough to drink in every other industrialized nation on the planet. (almost).

Also we got severely heckled during the entire set by Ryan Parks' friends, who on this particular evening were wearing face paint that made them look less metal and more like Juggolos.

Must feel awesome to be them.

Anyway, before that we were at Boontling trying to break Jameson's amp so that we could fix it.

Work

The other day at work, I noticed a rather crazy looking woman doing a rather crazy dance to some in-memorial MJ playing from an unseen jam box on the street. I took some video:

After her inspiring routine, this woman came in to sell some CD's, and after a little chatter, she told me her name is Filippa. She did a little Shakespeare for the entire store, then launched into a rousing version of the well-known American poem "Desiderata". Enjoy:

This kind of thing happens pretty frequently to anyone who works on this particular stretch of Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley... But Filippa's routine certainly makes it into my top 5 crazy people moments.

In other news, we've been working pretty hard on new music - particularly on new sounds via sampler and drum machine. Here's a clip of Jameson and John figuring it out at Boontling:

Catch us next July 11 at OMFG Oakland! A little part of the Mission Creek Music Festival in the East Bay. Deets on our MySpace of course.
